In the 1970 film “Catch-22,” Alan Arkin portrayed the character Captain John Yossarian. One of the memorable scenes from the film features Arkin, as Yossarian, sitting nude in a tree. This scene is significant as it encapsulates the absurdity and dark humor of the story, which is based on Joseph Heller’s novel of the same name. “Catch-22” is a satirical war film directed by Mike Nichols. It deals with the contradictory and often illogical rules and regulations of war, as experienced by Yossarian, a bombardier in World War II who is desperate to stay alive amidst the chaos.
